Helping Homeschool Podcast: Who should homeschool?

Scott and Becky talk about who should homeschool and make points about rising to the challenge of homeschooling.

Want To

As homeschooling parents our job is not to make our kids want to learn.

As human beings we have a built in curiosity and intrinsic motivation to learn. Our job as home schoolers is to provide opportunities and encouragement and materials to satisfy their pre-existing desire to learn.

The best thing you can do is to get out of the way and not do anything that will turn them off from learning.

Public school is one big learning turn off. Interruptions, Rote Learning, Boring Text Books Written by Committee, should I continue?

It's like hunger for food, a chef's job is not to make you hungry, it's to satisfy your already existing hunger with delicious nutritious exciting dishes.

What we can do:

Don't worry about trying to make them want to, the want to is up to the learner.

Don't do anything that will turn them off to learning, don't ruin their appetite.

Think of yourself, not as a home schooler, but as the manager of a 5 star restaurant, your job is to organize awesome chefs to prepare delicious dishes of learning for your kids, and hey, you can always roll up your sleeves and step into the kitchen as well.

Tutors Helping Homeschoolers

A lot of homeschooling parents feel frustrated because they don't have enough time to give each of their homeschoolers the attention they deserve.

Your own family might think you are not capable of giving your kids a quality education all by yourself.

Trying to teach advanced subjects such as Algebra can quickly become an overwhelming challenge.

The solution to this problem is to hire a tutor. Families have been hiring tutors for centuries to give one on one instruction to their children.

But hiring a tutor is difficult; you have to find a good one, and then if you do it's really expensive to pay them by the hour.

That is why APtutor.tv created the Helping Homeschoolers Program. Our tutoring program teaches useful skills and knowledge using video lessons.

Why pay a tutor $50 per hour when you can get an army of tutors from us for only $50 per month? No contract - cancel anytime.
